Redwoods and San Fran – September

Written December 2018

At some time during the summer, for some reason, I had the idea of checking out a Mets game…even though the season was already a bust, and the playoffs were out of site.  After checking out their west coast schedule, it looked like they were going to be in San Francisco on Labor Day weekend…so we decided to make a long weekend trip out of it!

We were pretty sure that we’d drive down…but with it being a pretty long drive, we figured we might as well break it up, and check out some nature along the way.  Norina had never been out to the Redwoods before, so it was the perfect time to check them out!

The Plan

9/1 – 9/6

We went back and forth for awhile trying to figure out our plan… mainly how long we wanted to spend in each place….and in the end we decided that even though it started off as a trip to San Francisco, we wanted to spend more time exploring the Redwoods.  So the plan was to leave Thursday morning, and drive down to the Elk Prairie campground.  We’d set up our camp for the next 2 nights, setting us up for a full day of checking out tall trees on Friday…and then about a half day on Saturday before driving down into San Fran.  Sunday, was the Mets game…and we could spend some time walking around the city before or after…and then drive back on Monday.  A week or so before we left though, Remy suggested that Norina try and get her dual-citizenship for the Philippines, since the consulate was located in San Fran…so we decided to tack on another day so we could get that done on Tuesday morning.
