Backyard – July

July was pretty much a labor of love in making our backyard more livable, open, and eye-appealing. We spent a ton of time out there – especially Norina – and we had a lot of help from Suzan and Harry as well. Unfortunately, we don’t have many “before” pictures….(which would become a bad habit)… just went straight to work…clearing out branches…ripping out all of the ivy and weeds on the big downslope down to the creek.. so much work! And then there was the big chip-drop we decided to get to make a woodchip path to make going down the hill a much safer endeavor. As well as getting large rocks, small river rocks, scallop pavers… all from people giving them away…hauling them one carload at a time and then down into the backyard… A lot of hours put in by all of us…but it was worth it!

Norina’s Birthday Break!

No backyard work on Norina’s birthday….but still spent the time outdoors! After some breakfast waffles, we went driving around a bit looking for a place that was still open for some picking. Took us awhile, but we finally found one out in Dayton – Hildebrandt Cherry Orchards.

After we satisfied our bags (and appetites) there – we made our way over to Al’s Garden Center to shop for some plants, courtesy of my mom.

And then we ended off the evening camping out in the backyard – nice campfire…movie playing through the projector onto a white sheet of paper…and then sleeping out in the tent for our first night sleeping out back!
