Tigard – June – The Dating Life of Norina and Jonathan

June 11th – the day our new life in Tigard would begin…we signed the papers in the afternoon…brought a few things over…packed a small dinner for ourselves and ate out on the deck…and slept in the floor of our new living room that night! We did the majority of our packing in May…and by June, I think we were already sleeping on the couch back at the condo – as our bedroom was box central. So we were super excited to be moving to our new home!

Saturday morning, we started bright and early with the help of Susan and Harry to move everything from the condo, as well as a truckload from the Beaverton townhome into our new Hillshire home. It was a super long day…with some ribs in between (one last day of smoking ribs out on the hilltop patio while we moved stuff back and forth… really had a great plan in place!) Although that plan almost got blown up because Hertz overbooked. Thankfully, after a bit of a wait, I was able to get the last big-ish truck (a size smaller than I reserved…but good enough)

I think we wound up having to take 3 trips back and forth from the condo (instead of the 2 that I had planned and meticulously drawn out on paper) We actually didn’t get everything, as we left a lot of stuff in the storage room to pick up in future days since they could fit in the car. The condo itself was fully cleared out though…including the 2 grills and super heavy outdoor granite-top table from the patio. Not really sure how we managed to get that out safely and in one piece…(and without hurting ourselves either). Not far behind in difficulty was the workbench at the townhome for the last big moving load of the day. And if I remember correctly, there was one last stop that evening at Costco to pick up our bed while we still had the moving truck.

The rest of the month was really just about getting all of our stuff out of the boxes in the garage and set up in our new house! That, and cleaning up the condo and getting it ready for the new tenants who would be moving in at the end of the month. And getting the last few things out of the storage room there. Not an exciting month from an exploration perspective – but still an exciting month for our lives!
