Yard – August/September

August and September were much of the same. Didn’t really leave the house…just did a lot of yard work… both front and back. We got a hammock… got some free bamboo sticks and made a small fence out of it…got more stones.

The biggest job was cutting down…I think 6 trees…all with a manual saw. It took a lot of effort out of all of us…not just cutting them down (which was a ton of work) – but then to clean it all up afterwards too! We wound up using some of the nice long pieces to lay out the rest of the path going down to the creek. Other than that…chopped up some firewood for our campfires!

Next big job were the shrubs! Norina found a lady who wanted to get rid of all the shrubs from her front yard. So over the course of about a month… we would dig up her shrubs (which was not an easy task because of the old strong roots), load anywhere between 2-4 in Remy’s van, drive home, dig up some holes, plant, and maybe do it again. Sometimes too tired to dig and just left them out for the night. We started getting smarter about it later…and digging the holes first…and then getting the shrubs. Those are probably the ones that are still alive.

I also built up my Greenworks collection during this time. We all had some fun with the hedger – trying to make all of the plants, trees, and shrubs out front look nice and tidy. Other than all that…the rest of our time was mainly planning out our wedding and honeymoon in October!
